Galapagos islands, ecuador
The Galápagos Islands is a protected National Park and Marine Reserve, located in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Ecuador and it is made up of 13 main islands and 7 smaller ones, of which only 4 are inhabited.
The Galápagos is famous for its unique wildlife and endemic species, meaning that they cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Charles Darwin visited the islands the 1830s and studied these unique species which inspired his groundbreaking work on evolution by natural selection.
Galápagos is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978, and it is recognized for its outstanding biodiversity and ongoing ecological research. Constant efforts are made to preserve the islands' unique ecosystems and protect their vulnerable species.

san cristobal island
One of the 4 inhabited islands, and the coolest one of all, where there is SO MUCH to do and explore. It’s home to sea lions, giant Galápagos turtles, Galápagos sharks, marine iguanas, frigate birds, red and blue footed boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, and much more.
Your Hosts
We are a freediver and creator couple, passionate about the nature, traveling, and sharing our stories.
This time we do not only want to share stories with you, but the whole experience in a wild paradise.
We look forward to having you with us in the Galápagos Islands!

Highlights

tour 360
We will go on an all-day boat tour around San Cristóbal Island stopping by beautiful beaches and snorkel spots that offer very high chances to see sea lions, sea turtles, rays, dolphins, frigates, boobies, and even, hammerhead sharks and Galápagos sharks if we are lucky enough.
/Full-day boat tour/
Isla Española
Isla Española is the oldest island of the Galápagos, and only accessible from Isla San Cristóbal by a 2-hour boat ride. It's famous for the rare Waved Albatross and many other species that only live on this island, and nowhere else in the world. We will also have the chance to explore the marine life of the beautiful crystal clear waters around the island.
/Full-day boat tour/

Kicker Rock (Leon Dormido)
Kicker Rock is also known as "León Dormido" (Sleeping Lion) for its unique shape resembling a sleeping sea lion. It is one of the most iconic landmarks of the Galápagos, where we will have high chance for encountering amazing marine species, such as Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks, Galápagos Sharks, Black Tip Sharks, Eagle Rays, schools of fish, sea lions, and more.
/Half-day boat tour/
El Junco CRATER &
LA Galapaguera
We will visit the highlands of San Cristóbal, including Laguna El Junco, a volcanic crater lake, and the Galapaguera Tortoise Breeding Center, where you will meet the local youngest and oldest Galápagos giant tortoises. Finally, we will head to Puerto Chino to catch the sunset, one of the prettiest beaches of the island with a spectacular view from the hilltop.
/Half-day land tour/

Playa punta carola
Punta Carola is our favorite beach on the island, and it’s also probably the favorite spot of local sea lions and marine iguanas. It also has the most amazing sunsets ever. You can enjoy real postcard moments surrounded by animals in the water and on the beach. It's a great place for some refreshing swimming and snorkeling.
/Morning Exploration/
exploring tijeretas
Tijeretas is a hill with a gorgeous panoramic view to a cove with turquoise water. It's about a 20 minute walk from the town through a beautiful path full of large cactus and trees. The cove is a perfect spot for snorkeling and taking underwater photos. You can swim with playful sea lions, sea turtles and colorful fish.
/Morning Exploration & Afternoon Hike/

We will stay in a cute local guesthouse, Casa de Nelly, located 2 km from the airport and only 2 minutes walk from the beach. The property also has a pretty garden with hammocks to enjoy some rest time.
Each room is equipped with air conditioning, private bathroom with towels, shower gel, shampoo, etc. provided, and WiFi access.
The trip includes double rooms (shared bed or twin bed). Single rooms are available in limited numbers and can be arranged upon request for an additional fee of USD 250.
Breakfast is included.
Accommodation
Boat Tours
Tongo Reef is also the provider of our daily tours on the sea, and they are THE BEST!
We have been on many trips with them, and we always had an amazing time. The crew and the guides are very kind, and they will be there for us at all times for anything we need during our excursions!
As tourism is managed carefully to minimize the impact on the environment, all boats have limited number of guests, limited boats per site and limited time at each site allowed. This means that we can also enjoy our times better at every place we visit, without big touristic crowds around.

Is this trip for me?If you love the ocean, wildlife, nature and adventures, this trip is definitely for You! We will be constantly on the go on exciting excursions and spending hours in the ocean looking for magical encounters. However, if you’re looking for something more relaxing or if you’re not really a good swimmer, this trip might not be for you.
-
Do I need a freediving certificate? You do not need a freediving certificate, but it’s very recommended to take a course before, so you can take more advantage of the trip and enjoy the incredible underwater activites and marine life on another level. Also note, that ocean conditions can vary in some places like Kicker Rock, where the water may be completely calm, but stronger currents may also enter. Therefore, it is required to be a good swimmer and be comfortable in open water using snorkel equipment.
-
Will there be freediving trainings? This trip is focused on exploring marine life, not specifically freediving trainings. We will practice recreational freediving at its best every day.
-
Will there be any scuba diving activities? No, this is a freediving expedition, where we won’t be doing any scuba diving activities. However, if you wish to stay longer to do scuba diving too, we are happy to help you organize it.
-
Where do I need to book my flight?San Cristóbal, Galápagos (SCY). You may book your international flights directly to San Cristobal Island, but it will have stop over in either Guayaquil or Quito, so it may be more economic to book a flight to Guayaquil or Quito and then separately buy a domestic flight to San Cristobal Island. Common international airlines flying from Europe are: Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, KLM via Amsterdam, Avianca/Iberia via Madrid. Common airlines for domestic flights are: LATAM, Avianca.
-
Do I need a visa for Ecuador/Galapagos?No visas are required for U.S., Canadian, and most European citizens unless you plan to stay more than 90 days. In other cases, please check with local immigration offices or the Ecuadorian consulate.
-
Do I need any vaccines to enter the Galapagos Islands? There is no vaccination requirement for traveling to the highlands, coastal and Galápagos regions of Ecuador.
-
What's the local currency? The local currency is United States Dollar (USD).
-
What are the payment options on the island? (cash, ATMs, cards)Cash: We recommend to bring some cash with you for the National Park entrance fees (230 USD); some local stores and restaurants that may only accept cash (average spend in restaurants is between 6-30 USD per meal depending on the place); optional tips for guides. ATMs: There are a few ATMs on the island. You may withdraw up to 200-300 USD at once at a cost of 4.60 USD per transaction. Card payments: You may also use card payments in most local businesses - depending on the business you may be charged 8-10% extra fee.
-
Will we really see all these animals? We can guarantee that you will see most animals described, like sea lions all around, sea turtles, giant Galápagos turtles, lots of local bird species, and with a very good chance dolphins, school of fish and different kinds of sharks too, BUT remember, that nature is nature, and we cannot guarantee wildlife encounters.
